I've had this cloche for almost a year now and it's still going strong! I love the color and the details on it. After a year of washing the metallic has faded a bit but it still looks very nice. The bell holds a stick of butter - simply let it soften to room temperature and then fill the bell. I use cool tap water and fill the bell about an inch and a half. I change the water every few days, ie just drain and refill. I wash my bell between every fill up. It held my oil perfectly, the only time I had problems was on the hottest days when my AC just couldn't handle it and the oil got too soft and fell out of the hood into the water (don't damage the oil) or if it gets very cold in the house in winter, the oil can harden. But in general I liked this bell. I love having a nice soft buttery spread all the time. I've only had mold a couple of times, and they were all due to some other substance (crumbs, jelly, etc.) getting into the bell. I will never be without a butter dome again.
