Review on 📺 Reviewing the Sony XBR55A8F 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart BRAVIA OLED TV (2018 Model) - A Comprehensive Analysis by Ken Reed

OLED display is not always the same OLED display! On paper, the Sony A8F is almost identical to the LG C8 (which costs less) as the panels for both are made by LG Display. But Sony has done a lot behind the screen to make its A8F stand out. Since this isn't a comparison test, I'll just mention what makes Sony so good. PICTURE SETTINGS: The default settings are all I need to fully enjoy the A8F. The CINEMA HOME mode is very bright for an OLED display and handles movements perfectly. MOTION: Sony's True Cinema motion setting eliminates all traces of the dreaded "soap opera effect". SOE is only noticeable in standard mode when streaming content like sitcoms (I noticed this while watching "Blackish" on Hulu). REFLECTIONS: This is one of the TV's most important features, but one that gets too little attention. All TVs work great in dark rooms. But there are reflections during the day or when the lights are on. This might be the ONLY reason to choose OLED over LED TV like the Sony 900F (which I also own). LED performs almost as well as OLED in all categories, even in deep blacks, but reflection handling sets OLED apart. SOUND: Unless you have a soundbar or other sound system, most modern TVs are no good. . Sony has always taken on-board audio seriously and the A8F is no exception. It doesn't have a thumping bass, but the sound in the box is superb and the imaging is amazing, with no distortion at maximum volume. APPEARANCE: With virtually no bezels and superb build quality, the Sony is as simple, elegant and impressive as you'd expect from a top-of-the-line TV. Unlike the odd offerings of other TVs over the years (thick glass panels, bezels), the A8F's minimalist design should hold its own for as long as you've got it. but with even better blacks and thinner screens. LEDs are better, but OLED is the new standard. The Sony A8F is definitely at the top of the ladder and, in my opinion, well worth the extra money when it comes to reliability, reflection handling, sound quality and style.
