We purchased this item to make chocolate chips to decorate cakes. The instructions say to melt the chocolate and pour it into the mold. Well, melted chocolate also melts the mold. Once the mold has melted and the chocolate has cooled, it is very difficult to remove the freshly formed chocolate from the mold. This is the reason for the lower rating. The chocolate shaver works well and is very clean as you don't have to hold the chocolate itself like you would with a vegetable peeler. The chips are nice, wide and have a great bend. Too bad I can only use this device twice as the mold melts and cannot be reused. I wish they had a silicone mold so it doesn't melt and makes it easier to extract the chocolate once it has cooled. I'm looking for a new mold that won't melt and can be reused.
