H&BO TOPMAE 950XL 951XL is a great, affordable alternative to HP OEM cartridges, which cost five times more. After the printer went out of warranty, the original set of starter color ink cartridges also expired. Because this OfficeJet Pro 8610 is in my mother's house and is rarely used, except for the occasional copying of some receipts or fax forms or to print out documents. So it makes the most sense to have a cheaper alternative to use. But the cheaper alternative doesn't sacrifice the quality of a reliable replacement cartridge over remanufactured or refilled cartridges. Because the printheads are built into the printer and the ink is of fairly good quality, the cartridge is designed to deliver ink only. With other printers where the print heads are part of the cartridge, I would use original cartridges. But this ink is nice and rich, doesn't bleed or smear, and dries quickly. That's good enough for our use. I replaced the color cartridges with empty ones while the high capacity black had about 50% left. So why waste HP black ink until it's completely used up?
