Good update: Computer components

Since graphics cards are very expensive this year, I was only able to upgrade my computer's RAM and CPU this year. I have an ASUS Z370-A motherboard and it is listed as compatible, but when I installed a new processor the computer would not boot. The troubleshooting section talked about updating the BIOS, which made sense since the BIOS I had was released in 2018 before 9th Gen Intel processors. Swapped the processors and updated the BIOS with the old processor and then reinstalled the new processor and it booted fine. - Be sure to update the BIOS before installing a new processor. - Only replace one thing at a time. I know that downloading takes more work in between, but if you're also replacing RAM, you don't know what's not going to work when the download fails. Keep your old chip handy in case something goes wrong and you need to replace it. - Do not apply too much conductive paste to the back. An instructional video said the drop was about the size of a grain of rice. That seems correct. Too much and it gets everywhere. All in all, the installation was pretty easy. It took me a few tries to get it right, but it only fits one way. The hardest part was finding and downloading the BIOS from the ASUS website and attaching the Coolermaster heatsink and fan to the top. One note: this processor ships with video, but the HDMI output on the motherboard no longer works. This isn't a problem as I'm using the HDMI and DVI outputs on the 1070 graphics card. Bottom line: this was a good upgrade. My games run moderately faster with better frame rates and nothing seems to run hotter. I would recommend.
