Review on WARN 74520 Replacement Transmitter by Hector Watkins

These people need to rethink access to batteries.

This device is a remote control that controls a girl mounted on a truck or jeep. Bought this to replace a used one that didn't work. My problem started with an old used device. I tried removing the cover to check the batteries. The screws securing the lid are ridiculously small and won't fit with a standard screwdriver. Also, the screws are so tight that they cannot be turned with reasonable force. I ended up having to stick a jeweler's screwdriver into an electric screwdriver to remove them, and even then drill out the heads of the two screws. The batteries in the old unit seemed fine, so I assumed the remote was bad and bought a new one. To program a new unit, the up and down buttons must be pressed simultaneously until the green LED lights up. So far, so good. Then you need to press the button on the receiver until the red indicator lights up. The problem is that the device has no button and no red indicator. I can only assume that my chick is not designed for the remote control, in which case the remote control is useless to me. It can be powerful hardware despite the screw issues, but to me it serves no purpose other than the weight of the paper.

Pros
  • Ergonomic portable remote control with large buttons for easy operation even with gloves
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine
