My lashes looked very black and shiny when I first applied mascara. But after several hours of shopping, when I checked my makeup in the mirror, I was horrified to see huge black smudges over both eyes. I have long eyelashes and they touch my skin. I was very disappointed with this mascara which is advertised as waterproof. I went back to Avon Wash-Off Waterproof Mascara. It never comes off until I take it off. March 23, 2018 Updated original review. After my first bad experience with this mascara, I threw it in my makeup drawer. Recently I decided to try again. This time I had no problem with black spots. I made a conscious effort to keep my lashes from touching the skin over my eyes before they dried. Maybe it was important. I think I was too hasty in my judgement. I am sorry! Next time I will use a new product several times before reviewing it.
