We bought the first one in December 2019 and it lasted with my busy 5-6 year old until about October 2020 when the little plug protector didn't come. of its opening/closing. It was still usable afterwards, but if our child was playing on the tablet while eating, or just being a kid, we didn't want sand, dirt, or food crumbs getting into the charging port and ruining the iPad. It's cheap enough, I didn't mind just buying a spare to make sure the charging port is closed when our kid is using it. He has fallen many times with this case and he has done a great job protecting it. Definitely worth the money, just keep an eye on the charging port to open/close it while charging.
