I had to drill and tap two 3/8-16 screw holes in a hard steel ball mount that was too big for my drill press. I tried by hand and failed so I bought a Big Gator Drill Guide and a Big Gator Tap Guide. I drilled the holes with the drill guides and then tapped the holes with the tap guide. I attached the drill guides and the tap guide with a C-clamp. The tap guide held the tap perpendicular to the workpiece very well and the resulting thread was cut very well. The threaded holes were perfect for my needs. I used to have tapped holes in the head of a Chevy 305 to screw in rocker arm studs with a tap guide specifically designed for this purpose. It had strings to guide and push the crane and worked pretty well. So I was a little dismayed that this faucet guide didn't have threads to guide and push the faucet. I didn't have to worry, the tap held perpendicular to the workpiece cut perfectly. The material used in the instructions has not been cut, damaged or worn by the faucet. I suspect the Tap lead will work well for me for many years. Yes, I recommend this guide.
