I use two monitors at home and have been working for 21 years. So when I'm traveling and only using my laptop's display, I'm definitely a bit slower or less productive. I've been interested in portable monitors for a long time, but they've always been too small, too thick, or too low a resolution. This Svantto monitor solves all these problems and is a complete package with everything you need. After checking out all the included goodies, I went the minimalist route and connected my Samsung Galaxy S20 to a monitor using just one of the included USB-C cables. The monitor turned on after about 3 seconds and my phone went to Samsung DeX -Desktop Mode . Although I was indoors and the room was well lit, the brightness level of 30 was ideal and there was no need to plug in the monitor's power cord. In DeX mode, my phone became a keyboard and trackpad, so it was a very functional setup. I then connected the monitor to my 2014 Dell laptop using the USB-C to HDMI cable that came with it. This time I had to use a USB-C to USB-A monitor cable for power. As soon as I connected it to one of my laptops with lots of USB-A ports, the monitor would turn on and I could select any brightness level I wanted. Nevertheless, I found settings of 30 sufficient. It's not dark at all. I'm going to pack this monitor in a small portable power bank so I can power it from that if I don't want to risk draining my phone or laptop battery. I like the magnetic lid. It's thick enough to protect the screen but doubles as a monitor stand. It's also nice that Svantto included a plastic screen protector and an installation kit.
