The adapter was stuck in my graphics card and may have damaged the card connector when removed
It worked fine. until I had to temporarily remove the adapter. The adapter is stuck in the card port. After laboriously pulling it out, the signal disappears. Now I don't know if the card port is compromised or if the adapter has stopped working. (You should either take the PC to a charge to check the connection, or buy another adapter and see if that fixes the situation.) Disappointing.
