Not as good as green nerf

I bought this ball for my son for Christmas so we can play ball after school even in the winter months when it's dark (we live in California so bid look at the weather, but it's all still dark). I also bought a green lighted soccer ball for the same purpose; I bought both because I didn't know which worked better. This football is too, too complicated. It's so heavy I was embarrassed tossing it to my 9 year old son in the dark and he didn't really enjoy catching it. Soft Nerf Football was way better and we use it instead. This one was used once and now we're donating it to a good cause because we don't like it that much. Inserting a battery is also difficult compared to a Nerf and requires a special tool instead of a simple screwdriver. The light is bright, but it doesn't turn off as quickly or effectively as the Nerf, so I'm wondering how long the battery will last.
