I have an old school metal chain mesh that would break on the first hit so have I used a large D-ring from a dollar store to connect the ball to the rim, if you don't have a dollar store nearby get a very cheap big store from Revain, or even a curved hanger will do. The ball must come from the side g eed, the player needs to run straight parallel to the game board, so side space is required when you need to practice running and hitting the ball. If you move slightly off center, the ball will turn around and go into the basket. That's both good and bad.
