Review on RRD Leather Fly Swatter: Amish Made 17” Heavy Duty Bug Swatter for Flies, Mosquitoes, and More - Durable Metal Spring Handle - Rustic Brown Fly Swatter (1 Pack) by Brandon Mix

Expensive but great (updated)

UPDATE (with new photo): I've had this fly swatter for over 6 months now and it's holding up great. The wire handle doesn't flex like I previously expected. And thankfully, it kills flies just as effectively as slower fruit flies. It's still true that insect bits ruin leather and since it's leather I'm hesitant to wash it. I only use the smooth (non-suede) side for clapping, so I just scrape it off and wipe with a sanitizing wipe and it looks good. I should note that although I ordered brown both times, the first came real leather and the second had a darker reddish brown stain and seal (see 2nd photo). The handle is almost 2 inches longer. The coating makes cleaning easier and protects the leather from stains, however there is currently no way to specify the grade you want when ordering, so it may just be luck what you get. I definitely recommend it, also for the (too high!) price. ORIGINAL REVIEW: It's incredibly effective! I've already killed 2 fruit flies that were always too small for normal plastic fly swatters. It also makes a nice "bang" sound when you hit something, which is a bonus. I noticed two shortcomings, but neither of them are of great importance to me. First, the wire handle is a little flimsy and seems to bend fairly easily. It hasn't bent yet, but it wouldn't be hard to bend it back if it did. Another disadvantage is that crushed pieces of the bug remain on the skin, leaving bright spots (see photo taken immediately after crushing a fruit fly). I imagine that after some time of continuous use it will start to look pretty gross, especially on big bugs. I can definitely recommend this fly swatter. In fact, I just ordered another one.
