I use a lot of camera traps and was looking for an alternative to trees, straps and bungee cords. I do NOT use wood screw mounts. I tested the HME T-Post holder which is also a great product at a very reasonable price of around $10. But T-Posts aren't as user-friendly as this product, which is a stand and mount in one. I haven't used it for a long time, but so far it's the best for my purposes. My ground isn't very hard so it wasn't difficult to poke into the ground. This is a telescoping pole with a maximum height of 36 inches that I have used and has worked well. Since it only goes about 8 inches into the ground I was concerned that it might not be strong enough. Don't worry, everything is fine. Easy to lift but strong enough to get the job done. Contrary to some reports, the swingarm moves sideways AND up and down. I also initially thought it was just up and down, but I quickly realized it was simply because the nuts controlling the tension were a bit tight. Use some more "elbow grease" or loosen the nut. I've just started using this mount so I have no experience dealing with rust other than to say a little rust isn't that bad unless it significantly shortens the expected life of the product. If I live with a $21 product for 3-4 years, that will be enough until something better comes along. Given these comments I think that I will spray some WD40 on the unpainted parts. Ignore the complaints about the packaging. Although, maybe somewhat justified, who cares? Finding something that does the job well at a reasonable price and their complaints about hard plastic that easily cuts with scissors is a waste of time and an unfair criticism of the product itself. The camera mounting screw could be a bit longer but works on mine Browning still outstanding. The mount came with four rubber washers. I removed three to provide more thread engagement. I am buying 4 packs of these bindings today. When they arrive I'll see if the screw can be replaced. If not, I'm still a happy user. A NOTICE. I use this type of unsecured camera mount on my property. If my property borders public land, I recommend something with a locking mechanism. After, having been in the ground for about a year, the T-pillars can be difficult to pull out once they are sufficiently driven into the ground. I would recommend a 6 foot pole driven almost 3 feet deep.
