I bought a submersible pump for an outdoor fountain that came with no filter or foam trap, so all of the gunk in the fountain got sucked right in and clogged the spillway. It was otherwise a good, quiet, strong pump so I didn't want to return it, so I bought these mesh bags to put the whole pump in and submerge them both together - problem solved! I pull the drawstrings closed at the top tight enough to keep leaves & debris out but loose enough to let the pump's power cord & air line through. The only downside is that the pump is so powerful that it sucks everything right up to the inlet holes, clogging this mesh bag quickly, so it needed a wipe down every few days. I added a small coarse-grade foam trap inside the bag with the pump (plenty of room in these cool little bags) & closed it all back up again, now it works great - no more wipe downs needed. I only needed one, but now I have 2 spares (included with the "Ultra Fine 12" x 10" 3-pack") should the need arise for another one, can't beat the price. Well-constructed & tight weave.
