I've tried so many different waffle makers. They work well for a while, and then things start sticking to them. I've made more waffles with this iron than in the rest of my life! The surface is durable and easy to clean. It takes a while to reheat (I use level 4 and let the waffles bake a little longer) but the waffles are consistently wonderful and come out easily. I use Tovolo waffle tongs (very happy with these too) to remove the waffles. I love that the lid snaps to the side for storage (takes up less room in my crowded pantry). It comes with a drip eliminator that you put on the back when it overflows. This works pretty well when I'm sure it's fully inserted. But I'm just trying to refine my filling and not overflow. Maybe my brand of waffle mix made a difference - I used Krusteaz waffle mix - it comes out of the waffle maker like a charm and these are the tastiest waffles I've ever had. I LUBRICATE THE IRON WITH VEGETABLE OIL (NOT SPLASHED OR SOLID) BEFORE EACH USE AND WIPE WITH WET PAPER TOWELS TO REMOVE ALL RESIDUES AFTER EACH USE.
