The smell of dog urine will disappear!

I've always hated the smell of dog or cat urine. When I bought my own home, I swore I would never have any pet other than my already housetrained cat. Then three months later I got a puppy from the SPCA but diligently cage trained him and took him out right before bed, in the middle of the night and again first thing in the morning. I was lucky and he never had any problems. Then a year later, and with a false sense of security, my husband and I got lazy and decided that the dog would whine if it had to be released. Well, he didn't, and on a particularly long night when he wasn't released, he got into an accident. We couldn't be mad at him because it was our fault, but now there was a urine stain on our carpet that was there maybe hours before we found it. We took a towel, wiped away as much moisture, then I used a carpet cleaner but to no avail. A few days later, when I could only smell it upstairs (in the middle of a VERY humid and hot August), I googled home remedies and tried a solution of vinegar and baking soda. Again no luck. Then I bought this thing, sure it wouldn't work, but I was desperate. As soon as I received it, I poured urine over the stain. It has a very strong odor, like a chemical cleaning solution. If strong odors bother you or anyone else in your home, this may not be for you. I, on the other hand, welcomed the strong smell because it wasn't the smell of dog urine. I followed the directions, let it sit for 5 minutes and then blotted it off with a towel. I haven't smelled a dog pee and I'm so thankful. It took a long time to dry completely due to the humidity, but once I was sure it was dry I'll check to see if it smells and if so I'll do it again. But if so, it's very faint at the moment and I haven't noticed it yet (which leads me to guess it's not there because I even notice a hint of the smell since I've always had pets). This is the only one I have found that has ever worked in my 20+ years of pet ownership and care.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
