Comes folded in a plastic bag. When I opened the plastic bag, all I could smell was the stench. Bad enough that I had to put it in another room for the day. It's a very chemical smell, overpowering BUT not lingering. It's autumn where I live, so it's not hot. I have received other diaper bags in the same packaging and none of them smelled like this. So it wasn't the bag, it was the material the diaper bag was made of. Just remember that once it arrives, you need time to "air it out". Functionally this is a good bag. It's a bit small for diaper bags, but it's fine for many. It has ample space for all the essentials you need throughout the day - extra wipes, bottles, formula dispensers, snacks, diapers/tissues/cream etc. You can reach everything you need without digging. I also like the anti-theft pocket on the back, big enough for a tablet.
