Let me first say that I have a love/hate relationship with this avocado keeper. I cook a lot in Mexican cuisine, so having an efficient avocado holder is an absolute must. As for keeping the other half of the avocado fresh, I really haven't found anything better and I think I've tried them all! When I'm done slicing the avocado, I simply drizzle a generous amount of lemon or lime juice over the exposed avocado flesh and pit to ensure all surfaces are coated. I place it cut side down on the Avo Saver and stretch the silicone to buckle tight. place on top of the avocado, fix and place in the fridge. If you use it the next day, it will be completely fresh. If it lasts longer than a day or two, you'll likely have a slight discoloration that doesn't affect the taste but doesn't look as pretty. So I just cut a thin strip to remove the discoloration. But the rest of the avocado will be perfectly fresh and inviting. So I kept the remaining half for up to a week. Now for the love-hate relationship and why I couldn't rate it higher. I've had 4 of these over the past few years and have had the same issue with each one. The silicone strap breaks where stress is placed on it. It will eventually start cracking (as shown in the picture below my last one) and eventually separate rendering the custodian unusable. This is very unfortunate as the design of this product could not be better. I saved so much money because I was able to effectively salvage half that would otherwise break before I could use it. Since I can't be without something to keep my avocados fresh, I really have no choice but to keep buying replacements whenever they break. For this reason, I always look for them at a popular discount store nearby, but often can't find them. So I was happy to see that they now come in two packs at a better price and just ordered a set. I know that the one I'm using now, which I used a few months ago (the defect is shown below), will soon break and become unusable. So now I'm ready for backups! The overall design of this device is fantastic, the best I've found. I really wanted to rate it higher for that reason, but I couldn't because for something that gets a lot of use, it breaks pretty quickly. If they could fix the weak point of the strap this would definitely be a 5 star product! I rely heavily on customer reviews when I shop, and I know others do the same.
