I had a reverse installation for my mobile. I had a steel "ball" on the dashboard and a MAGNET on the back of my phone. It lasted 3+ years and worked GREAT! EXCEPT the magnet on my phone killed the magnetic strips on my credit cards when they were too close together in my wallet or pocket, forcing me to order replacement cards. This happened at least 4 or 5 times! This setting is better. The magnet was in the car. The steel plate fits anywhere you want to put it. I have a two piece phone case so I put it BETWEEN the two pieces and not on top of the phone itself. This reduces the amount of plastic the magnet has to go through. The mount is solid and doesn't move as much as my old steel ball mount. Good price for two!
