Review on Philips Hue Bluetooth Gradient Ambiance Smart Lightstrip 2m/6ft Base Kit with Plug - Multicolor Strip (Apple Homekit + Google Home Compatible), White, 570556 by Jessica Breaux

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I'm on the fence about it.

I have an old generation lightbar so I decided to give this a try. The first generation can only be one color, but this shows up in the Tint app as 3 lights that can be different colors and brightnesses. That is very cool. But the light strip itself isn't as easy to install as the previous generation because it's not as flexible. I'll echo some of the previous reviews, if you have a long flat area you want to install then great. Whether you want it to curve and turn corners, or climb and climb obstacles, I don't think it's as versatile as some other light bars. What you get, if you can figure out how to install this, is a really cool light bar that easily integrates with other Hue products. I have many Hue lights and appreciate how well all of their products work together, but unless you really want/need 3 different color zones in the same light bar I think the older generation Hue light bar is the best product. .It would also be nice if Philips started selling them with some sort of command strip attachment system. It came with a continuous strip of adhesive tape to permanently attach the lights. There were a few places I could attach this, but I didn't want glue on a good piece of furniture all the time. This one is really well made like many other Hue products, but even compared to other Hue products it's not as well thought out as it could be.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Some flaws
