I have seen this type of lamp when traveling. So I knew what I was looking for. This one is exactly as described except the base is silver rather than brass. But it turned out to be perfect for me. So it's small, with a very nice glass ball that gives off soft light. I bought the blue one and the blue glass on the sphere will emit a soft blue light in a beautiful pattern. It's just a night light. You can't read underneath it, but if you just need light to enhance a room, this is a good choice. I have a timer on the timer that turns on for a few hours in the evening.
