So we had a collar with a remote control and were very lucky with it. This immediately changed the behavior of our dogs. However, we've been having some issues with remote work lately, so this one came along. This collar does not come with a remote control, it works via an app on your phone or other device. I wasn't sure how we would feel about this because our old remote just sat by the door and we could take it out if needed. Because the old remote corrected its behavior so well, we didn't have to take the remote out every time, so having the app on the phone didn't bother us at all. Part of the app is so easy to use and connects to the collar. I also really like how customizable the app is. You can adjust the strength of the hit, vibration and volume. There are many sounds to choose from and they have some good sirens to warn the dogs. You can also record your voice to tell your dog what you want when he's misbehaving. We took ours to say go home. We originally bought a set of collars for our dogs because they are running around eating things they shouldn't have in the yard. This collar is definitely more aimed at correcting barking, which is not a big problem for us, but since the application is very user-friendly and customizable, we can adapt it to our needs. The barking part of the app is set to automatically adjust where it will beep, vibrate and shock, increasing in intensity until the animal stops barking. If you don't like the factory settings, you can go in and change them. If you use it to bark, you don't need a remote control to turn it off. As soon as the dog barks and the collar picks up the set sound in decibels, it starts working. We were doing 100 speed and it was windy outside and the wind howled just enough to get it started. So we raised our settings to the highest level. So you can play around with it as it can be delicate. You can also pause the entire barking portion and choose how many hours (up to 24) you want to pause. It would be nice to just disable and enable this part like you can with other settings, but at least it can be paused. The app also gives you a daily summary of how it has been used on your animal. It comes with a charging cable and a part to test if the shock is working by lighting it up. Very easy to use and test. The collar itself is nylon with a plastic clasp. It's not heavy, but definitely not cheap. It can stretch and contrast very well to accommodate different sizes. Our boys weigh 100 pounds and we can always make a larger collar if needed. It has metal rivets next to the mechanism to keep it in place better. The part of the mechanism that does all the work suits our dogs very well, it is small and compact but looks very well made. They recommend not leaving the collar on all the time. So I was a bit hesitant about all the pre-set things like putting it on, turning it on, launching the app, but since we mostly use it when we're out with dogs for a long time, it doesn't have to be a hassle. We've had the collar for a few weeks now to really get a feel for it and I'm happy with its performance so far.
