I am a USPS mailman and bought these shoes for work. I also have plantar fasciitis and wore them with a partial foot tear that happened prior to receiving them. These shoes took care of my feet while I worked and my foot healed. They are lightweight, comfortable, have good support and are durable. I averaged 10-12 miles a day, 6 days a week in them and they lasted 5 1/2 months before the stitching between the shoe and sole started to unravel. As far as I know, chain shoes have a very long service life. I currently only use Merrill shoes because backpackers are more practical for the terrain I walk, but I would definitely use them again if I needed a different pair of hiking shoes.
