We had two generic cheese graters: a rusty four-sided and a three-sided from a popular broken plastic store. So almost anything would be an improvement, but this set is vastly superior to what we had. The grater is made of durable plastic with multiple grating options (and I love the fun red color). The nutmeg grater fills a gap I encounter on every holiday - they're always prohibitively expensive - so I enjoy enjoying them very much. And at the same time, getting a quality vegetable peeler (all of ours are predictably dilapidated) is a huge benefit. What a great set!
