I replaced the glow plugs in my 1997 Ford 7.3 diesel. When I removed the PCV box on the valve cover, I noticed that the o-rings had been removed. My truck came from California and didn't start here in Ohio last winter. I diagnosed it with bad glow plugs, not a good one (probably not really necessary in California). I replaced all 8, not a very bad job, and in the 50 degree weather everything started fine. As soon as it got colder, it became difficult to start even with new glow plugs without an afterburner. Two new batteries solved the problem. I believe it will start at 0 degrees. Glow plugs draw about 150 amps. I needed o-rings to keep the CCV breather from leaking oil. So far, so good. It's hard to find small parts for old trucks like mine.
