Firstly, this mandolin is very sharp and can be very dangerous if you do not use it properly and take the necessary precautions when using it. I suggest getting a chain mail style metal glove if you cut a lot to avoid accidents. I bought this to chop veggies from my garden so I can dry them for the winter. . Unlike some other products available, the cutting blade is fixed to the cutting platform so it cannot move and make the cut uneven. This model comes with an all-metal cutting platform making it very durable and reducing the chance of slippage and unsafe cutting. Mine had an issue when it arrived that the cutting platform wasn't adjustable so you're stuck with very thin slices. Luckily my husband was able to take it apart and fix it and now I can enjoy different thicknesses. I will definitely buy it again when it comes time to replace the one I have now. I am very pleased with how easy it is to use and clean.
