Review on Enhanced Smart WiFi Light Bulb 2.0: Ultimate Connectivity and Versatility by Phanikumar Larsen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Smart RGB standard lamp

I ordered these to replace some of the old compact fluorescent lights in our rooms. Aside from the first bulb I tried to fool with, the other 3 in the pack seemed to work and connect perfectly to my 2.4GHz WiFi network. Remember that if you mess up pairing, you'll need to "reset" the lightbulb by turning it on 5 or 6 times until you see a color check and a blink, so that an unsecured WiFi network is available to you, to add them. This is the kind of annoyance I had to dig through lots of FAQs and guides to discover. Maybe a "reset" pinhole [like 99% other tech like this] would be a bit more user friendly/obvious? Diagnostics and troubleshooting leave a lot to be desired. You can also manually connect to random, unsecured networks that each bulb creates specifically for pairing. Although I think they should have just used a series of hexadecimal numbers that uniquely identify each wireless SSID to type into your phone, rather than a QR code to simplify things. Just make sure you only have one pair of bulbs at a time to avoid SSID confusion. These bulbs only seem to want to "call home" the central server they're connected to and don't give you much feedback when connected to your network, even when they are "working". This is probably intentional, but it would be nice to know why a particular faulty lightbulb is not connecting as in my scenario. It can't be that hard to add a lightweight internal HTTP server for these things to listen on to get some basic diagnostic information, right? Anyway, judging by the amount of heat generated and the fact that it never showed up in my network's MAC address list. , in the first minute after switching on I suspect that it is a thermal problem with the WLAN chip inside. I will be contacting their support team to see if I can replace this one bulb but the other 3 seem to be working fine! Pros: - They work - Lots of different colors to choose from - The software lets you place lightbulbs in "rooms". and set up scenes. Cons: - The software is clunky. - Using QR codes is fine, but be prepared to use an open lamp mount so you don't try to squeeze the camera into hard-to-reach places. Lamps that do not require a hub. Can't complain too much. Hopefully they will replace my 4th faulty bulb out of the 4 I bought because the other 3 are working fine.

Pros
  • 3. CONVENIENT AND VERSATILE - 9W, 800lm. Adjust the brightness and color temperature to create different "scenes": delicate, soft or bright, for dinner, movies, reading, etc.; Share control with family members via "Home Share" in the app (click on the created "Home"); Create a "room" to control 2 more lightbulbs together.
Cons
  • Available in white only
