Review on Lightweight Compressor with Clutch - Four Seasons 58948 by Brandon Hunter

Quality control issues

I have used many items from the Four Seasons collection over the years. For the most part they were all good. This compressor was a real disaster. When I started the car after installing it, it made a loud grinding noise. System flushed, accumulator and nozzle replaced. The compressor was installed with the correct amount of PAG oil. I drew the correct vacuum with my Auto 134 and filled it with the correct weight 134. I spoke to a Four Seasons rep on the phone and he advised me to run the car to see if it clears itself. He said to send it back if he didn't make up his mind and they would replace him. I did this and it stalled the motor when it stalled. That's all I can ask for except that it seems to me that a new compressor should be tested before shipping. I'm not very happy with the lack of quality control. Now I have to start again. I work in a classic car restoration shop and this is a real loss for me. I'll be out for almost a day, not to mention all the other parts that need replacing. At least Revain agreed to replace the parts I bought from them. That is the real bright spot. I just bought a Delco air conditioner to replace.
