Review on Ohaus SPX222 Scout Analytical Balance by Sean Bouchard

Good scale but not accurate for grit as expected

Item received on time and in good condition. First I liked the product. Excellent ad. Nice features. Ability to measure objects at the bottom of the device with a hanging load. The instructions were easy and it didn't take long to calibrate. Separate legs where scales can be leveled. Wide measuring surface made of steel. But the grain scale accuracy was not very sensitive and I was not sure of its readings. I use two other scales that I need to compare measurements and they have proven to be more sensitive when adding very small increments of measured material. The accuracy of the scale is 0.001 grams. I thought this would be enough for my application but I was wrong. I called Ohaus, spoke to the support service (they responded very quickly and humanely, a big plus in my book). After waiting a few minutes for an answer he came back and explained that if I wanted more accuracy and responsiveness I should look for a scale with an accuracy of 0.0001 grams, he recommended their Pioneer SPX163 model which unfortunately was almost twice as much as this device. I don't think he was trying to sell me because when I looked at the specs of one of my scales it showed an accuracy of 0.0005 grams. I think it's a good device just not accurate enough for my needs. I haven't tested any other units of measurement, just what I needed it for, grains. I will return this block. But good customer support.
