They offer what I call light support compared to a compression stocking, but still just enough to keep swelling from getting out of hand. The height is just below the ankle, which is convenient for low-cut shoes. I would classify them as medium weight and they go with everything except thinner shoes. I found that they absorb moisture and dry quickly. Another detail is the "L” and "R” markings that correspond to the left and right leg. In general, these socks are much more comfortable to wear than those that are not specifically designed for the left or right foot. This property, among others, makes them beneficial and suitable for a wide variety of activities. All in all I recommend these. I've already bought more to stock up.
