Very easy to use and gives quick results. I bought this to test the soil in different parts of my small farm so I can change the soil for planting as needed. I was so surprised how easy it was to use. I carried around some disposable plastic cups, added soil and some water to moisten and compact the soil, stuck the pins in and got a reading within seconds. Then I simply washed the pens and tested the next samples. Sometimes I even stuck the pins straight into the soil, which still gave me a decent reading, but I still think it's best to moisten the soil in a cup or container so you have the most accurate sampling . But it is a great tool for gardeners or farmers. It is very easy to use and does not require batteries.
