Enclosures I bought these wall brackets to use old JBL S26 speakers cheaply in my garage. I needed a mount that would support the weight, tilt the speakers down slightly, and be inexpensive and not overly attractive. Packaging/Build Quality/Appearance The mounts came in a small white box. Mounting lever fairing is protected by cardboard and everything is packed. The hardware is in one box and the different parts are sealed in different compartments (my least favorite packaging method). The welds on the square tube to the flange were fairly clean (although you won't see this if you use a pad) and there were no surface defects or structural issues on any of the parts. The item looks ok. it's not an eyesore, but it's not attractive either. The finish of the metal is good enough, but the plasticity of the valence and the end cap isn't up to scratch. The misaligned parts of the speaker clamping mechanism aren't particularly pleasing to the eye (when viewed from below). Installation/Mounting (see special note!) I have chosen to mount my speakers on wall studs. The JBL S26s weigh about 24 pounds (each), and no matter how far I laid them, I really didn't want to trust drywall anchors. If you go down that route I would really consider buying better quality hook anchors instead. With two screws securing each mounting plate, there is ample clearance to align the bracket. Once the lever is in place, place the cap on the assembly and place the cap on the end of the lever. The screw/cover assembly has a nut that is responsible for fixing the speaker's tilt/pivot position - the problem is that there are no lock washers, the screw is not slotted and does not have a hex head. While you can certainly use the hardware that comes with it, I would definitely recommend using a lock washer instead of a plain washer. I used it with a nut (because I didn't care if it was silver or black) but you can use it on a bolt if you care more about the final aesthetic. The clamping mechanism seems solid enough, but I didn't trust it enough to use it without the included screws THAT GO INTO THE SIDES OF YOUR SPEAKER. Since I don't care about my speakers, it didn't really matter. If there is damage to the finish of your speakers, you may feel differently. The clamping force might be enough on its own, but I didn't really want to rely on that since I have the mount at the widest adjustable down angle. The last thing I need is a speaker bouncing off one of the cars. Conclusion If I had known that these speaker stands were so cheap, I would have bought them many years ago. Of course it would be nice if there were lock washers or a cap to put on the adjusting nut, but what can you really expect at this price point? Definitely recommended.
