The Max Burton induction hob has served as my main heating appliance since I discovered it in December 2011. I bought two of these in a row because they were so great. The hob is very fast compared to other non-induction hobs. With 1800W of power, it easily outperforms the competition with just 1300W or 1500W of cooking power. One of the main advantages is that the surface is usually made of glass or stainless steel. I've previously tried a different brand 1500w induction cooktop and the plastic was slowly melting on the back corner due to the cookware generating heat when I was frying or cooking food at higher temperatures. Let's talk speed. These appliances only have a 5" induction coil inside so really only show true induction performance on smaller pots and pans, but simply because induction is so much better than traditional electric and gas appliances it's easy to overlook the fact that the appliance is so powerful water boils a third of the time and if i use it on other surfaces such as z along with the gas unit once you use induction you will never go back if you have a saucepan that uses traditional electric or gas stoves that will change the atmosphere poison it's time to throw it away and get it.Now when almost three years have passed we can talk about durability. The two hobs I have still work almost perfectly, although there are small problems (also see photo). The knobs are made of plastic, and plastic is not a durable material when it comes to items similar to the kitchen. The plastic f on the buttons is worn, cracked and in some cases completely peeled off, exposing the rubber buttons underneath. That's not a big problem because now we know what all the buttons are for. However, the keys are now a bit softer and sometimes not as responsive as they used to be on either device. Only on one of the devices does the button that reduce the power of the device not respond properly, but it still works if I press hard enough. One of the power buttons is a little wrinkled, although the plastic isn't worn. This dimple causes the device to respond incorrectly to on/off commands about 10% of the time. Not bad for something made in China! Pros: Heats up very quickly. Pretty durable for made in China Cons: Plastic buttons
