Dirt, puddles and mud from me. Then I decided to go camping by bike and I needed baskets so a suitcase. Not knowing how much weight I would ever need, I went with the strongest rack I could find, wide enough to clear my 4" tires and frame. After hours of reading and comparing, I decided on this frame. I paid special attention to the 3 set screws under the main tube of this rack, thinking I could use them to mount my favorite shovel. It worked and I couldn't be happier. Everything above the strut and wing combo stays nice and clean. The rocket was easy to install, keeping the on-screen photo on this listing for reference. Instructions aren't really required, which is good as the ones provided by the manufacturer are very poor. Once installed, this thing becomes a beast. It is strong enough to carry another adult. The trunk makes no noise, does not rattle, does not squeak and does not creak. I'm extremely sensitive to noise from my bike and its accessories because most of the time I ride where it's virtually silent. I have a giant wired storage basket big enough to hang file folders in and I use a tie to attach it to this shelf when I want to get out of the woods and get groceries. I used bungee cords to tie a propane tank to a rack and drove the 11 miles home without even moving the tank. The panniers I travel with attach to the trunk and ride great. I am very happy.
