Mac OSX High Sierra now requires kext authorization, which modifies the system; This includes the Prolific drivers required for the operation of this device. OSX Installation Process: One thing that is not mentioned in the driver installation process is that after the driver installation is authorized, OSX will ask you to reboot (before the driver completes the installation). DO NOT RESTART at the first prompt. This will render your OSX unusable and you will have to reinstall your OS from a backup (e.g. Time Machine). Instead, tell OSX not to reboot, wait for the Prolific installer window to finish, and then be prompted to reboot. It is safe to reboot at this point. To be safe, do not delete any files until you reboot. I hope this helps all Mac OSX users with a newer operating system (10.13.X - macOS High Sierra and higher). Driver Information: Many drivers may not work when using screen from a terminal. You may need other (older) drivers. A google search should bring up USB serial drivers.
