I love this thing! It assembles easily and seems sturdy enough to sit on. To save space in a one-room apartment, it can be used both as a piano bench and as a shoe rack. I'm a petite woman, so it's durable enough to serve as a seat longer than just putting on shoes; However, those with a larger frame should check the specs as they are fairly light (probably wouldn't recommend more than one person on them at a time!) and I don't know what their limitations are. I prefer lattice shelves to rods, it's easier to store high heels to keep them from sticking out. The pillow on top is also very comfortable.
