Quite nice for the price. The temperature control works.

For around $14 I really can't ask for more. The auto shut off works well and wakes up when you squeeze the handle. a rubber protection on it, possibly also as insulation if you touch a hot tip. It has a high level and a low level. .Initially it gives full power to start and then drops off quickly as it heats up. Power starts at full power measured at 106 watts and then quickly stabilizes at 60, 50, 40 and finally 15W after 10 minutes. Low power stabilizes at half power of 9W after 10 minutes. Switched to low took it 1-2 minutes to reach the desired performance, which can be seen as a bulge in the graph. They call it a 60-watt heater, but since it's adjustable and can operate over a wide power range from 106 to 6 watts or less, it's as good a number as any. If you use a lot of hot glue, the power will increase as needed to compensate. The power consumption was recorded on the WattsUp .net power meter, which is said to have an accuracy of around 1%.

Pros
  • Glue guns and craft sticks
