Review on Creative Birthday Christmas ROKR Wooden by Dusty Wonsley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Another great ROKR puzzle to take home.

I finally built my ROKR Globe! It was a fairly simple design compared to some of the more complex ones like the marble walkways and combo safe. However, it took an incredibly long time (but also fun because it worked!). It looks so beautiful on my shelf and I'm still deciding where it will go forever. This build took maybe 7-8 hours (I had to go back after the last step when I realized I missed a tiny step, haha, oops!). Most of the time was spent creating the wireframe of the globe myself and then attaching all the land pieces to each blue water plate. Each of them is held in place by a tiny wooden peg and you end up using LOTS of those pegs and then carefully attaching each "spike" of the globe (vertical section) to the frame and adjusting everything to fit. Great care is required here and not knocking off a single part when mounting the globe on the frame it sits on. At least they pop up right away and the ROKR gives you a bunch of extra little pin parts. It's very important that you wax the pieces when prompted, as there are a number of moving pieces here, including three drawers that slide out at the base (it's very tight). tolerances, and I plan on sanding the edges a bit later so they slide a little softer). The curved pieces holding the globe in place wanted to separate a bit for me, so I used a zip tie to neatly attach them "together". I'll replace it with either clear fishing line or clear zip ties as soon as I find them in my office to make it look cleaner. The fact that the 8 wonders of the world are about 1/4 inch from the blue background at the base. it's a nice touch as it gives a sense of depth. The engraving on the gears, the constellations and the product as a whole is very well done. It is packaged very well and is a lot of fun to assemble. I took the globe and gradually assembled the parts as it was very troublesome to put 96 small pins on the frame and then a thousand small pins in a blue ocean to hold all the earth pieces. After a while my fingers really started to hurt , when I push the little pins into the holes, so I carefully used a pair of pliers to put them in place (without crushing the little pieces of wood). Did I mention again that they give you a lot of spare parts? It's not just like that. I definitely broke about a dozen tiny pins. :) After all, the absolute Y-piece is beautiful and looks amazing once assembled!
