Consumer Reports ranked this cordless answering machine #1 in their last comparison in October 2010. In parallel tests, they found out which phone performed best. Knowing this I was very pleased that it looks so nice and not like the usual glossy black plastic of most others. Its color and design go well with the different furnishings in each room. Also, I was happy to find the best price here, even better than eBay. We're both 66 years old, so the convenience of so many phones is what's most appreciated. We still have our three corded phones, but now with all the extra cordless phones, we never experience the inconvenience of making a phone call. As old people we had no problem plugging it in and using the answering machine. It works with the simplest of connections - plugging it into an outlet and phone line, plugging in the handset's battery and then, time permitting, you can learn how to use the answering machine as well as many handy handset features. This phone base can accommodate 12 handsets or 10 handsets and 2 headsets. For added convenience, we've added another handset and AT&T headset for the TL7600 system. The four handsets that come with the device are already registered to the base station, so they are easy to connect and use. Additional sets added need to be registered in the database, but these instructions are easy to follow. My wife's two sisters' husbands have recently passed away so she spends many hours every day on the phone with them and appreciates the headset very much as she can move completely freely and perform her actions with both hands inside and out. Each earpiece has a jack for connecting a standard headphone accessory, which I use often, but I have to carry the earpiece with me, as I usually do in my shirt pocket. However, the TL7600 headset is a small, cordless device. The headsets transmit in the DECT 6.0 frequency band, the safest known medium, with the highest possible sound quality and maximum range. The base unit can be mounted on the wall and also looks good on the desk. Each phone comes with a belt clip which I have attached although I rarely use it. I attached clips so I had something to hold onto as the phone is so small and light that I was afraid it would slip out of my hand. Our big kids also love it because it's easier for them to hold the phone. Every handset holder is its charger, so each one needs to be plugged into an outlet. The base unit of the phone is the only one that is additionally connected to the phone line. Every plug-in power supply is Energy Star qualified, and I've never seen one feel as warm as the old-style. Now find it so convenient to hear others with this AT&T phone system.
