I read reviews on the site about the effectiveness of dummy security cameras and in general they can be useful, but a flashing red light is only a sign for thieves that it is a fake and real security is not cameras. I don't have them so I suggested not using them and of course that means no messing around with batteries! I suggest, connect a cable to the camera to make it appear like it's actually connected to a surveillance device. You can use a short coaxial cable like cable TV. There are many easy ways to make it look real no matter what surface you place it on. I have vertical siding, which made it easy to install a camera through a slot in the siding and thread the cable through the slot, tape it under the camera and wrap a piece around it to secure it in the slot in the siding to keep. on the other side (see photo). I think using the warning stickers that come with the camera is acceptable, but the camera looks pretty convincing without them. What surface are you installing it on?
