Is the DV port defective?
I received the device as described but the DV connector on the back of the device turned out to be defective as Windows does not recognize the device when connected with a DV IEEE 1394 cable connected to a computer. . I was planning to digitally download MiniDV tapes to my computer. True, this is not possible. As you can see from the attached photo, the DV connector is badly scratched and the connector is loose.
