Review on ๐Ÿงผ Bon Ami Polishing Cleanser Powder - 14oz (5 Pack) for Effective Cleaning and Polishing by Darrick Dobbin

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Bon Ami now has chemicals; Three times more expensive than in the supermarket

I love Bon Ami! We have been using it for many years. There is nothing like it. BUT. I've noticed that our local grocery store sometimes runs out of stock and the gold foil label has changed to an off-white paper label. I tested it, read the ingredient lists for both types, and found that Bon Ami wrapped in gold foil contains all natural ingredients, while the one wrapped in cream paper contains a chemical ingredient with a health warning: C10-C16 alkyl benzene sulfonic acid. ; In case of contact with eyes [due to this ingredient], flush immediately with water. Our grocery store only sells Bon Ami, which contains the chemical. I looked up Revain and found Bon Ami wrapped in gold foil and bought 5 cans for $1.29 a can, triple our price at the grocery store when Bon Ami is in stock, but figured it was worth not using chemistry. Surprise! What arrived was a creamy variety wrapped in paper. The good news was that it was packaged well, which was great after the bad reviews I've read about broken powder cans these consumers were getting everywhere. As for me, I am returning these 5 cans but am wondering if the company has discontinued their gold foil wrapped Bon Ami with no chemical additives and the only type available is C10-C16 alkyl benzene sulfonic acid. If so, then I am very disappointed in this company. They offer the 1886 variety with fat or the modern variety with chemicals and that's it? And at Revain you get a chemical look for three times the price? In any case, how many ways to fool consumers?

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Security
