I bought this unit to connect my security system in the basement to a 19 inch TV in my living room. I ran the cat5e through the walls and the sockets at both ends, made everything nice and tidy, plugged it in and...nothing. no video. so excited at this moment. However, after a bit of troubleshooting, it turned out that one of the patch cords I was using from the wall plate to the receiving device just didn't like it. I replaced that cable and it connected and has been working ever since. Ethernet cable tester on this one cable and it tested ok. I tried again. and nothing. Replace it again and it will work fine again. So the device is a bit finicky about the ethernet cable used, but other than that it works very well.
