The grammar on the instructions is a little wrong, but I was able to program my light successfully. I first turned off the light (the middle switch on the side to zero), connected the switch adapter to the other side, and then set the time by holding the hour and minute buttons (it's a 24-hour clock ). Second, I pressed and held the hour button until it switched to ON, then released it and waited for the time to flash. This is the time to set the hours and minutes when you want the light to turn on (if nothing is pressed for 5 seconds this time will be set and will now automatically switch to OFF mode and you enter the time at which the light should be switched on off). Repeat all steps for the night light but use the minute button instead. I actually unplugged the light for 5-10 seconds to see if the timer resets, but the timer saved memory so that comes in handy. Also, the cable is quite long so it can be attached to the side or back of the tank.
