This Chromebook was a big upgrade for my 6 year old Chromebook, but in some ways it felt like a step backwards. My old Chromebook of the same price had a fan and never had an overheating issue unless I really pressed on it. However, this new style of Chromebook doesn't use fan cooling and claims that the new CPU chips are designed to require nothing more than passive cooling by temporarily reducing chip performance when things get too hot. It might work for people who only use the device as a document tool, but the world has shifted to streaming entertainment media, and this Chromebook is far behind. While the Chromebook has a 1080p screen, it can only stream 1080p content for about 30 minutes before the chip has to shut down power to cool it down. This causes Chromebooks to be unable to stream content, causes lots of freezes and lag, and forces you to either turn off content UNDER 720p to cool down, or stop streaming content altogether. This is a big deal as many people want to stream at the resolution the screen is capable of. The rest of the HP 14 works great.
