Review on 🐠 Hinged Glass Rectangle Aquarium Canopy by Perfecto Manufacturing by William Dean

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Completely unnecessary complication

Putting a strip of plastic on the glass is a real journey through all nine levels of HELL. No instructions as it seems to go without saying until you try the strips. A rubber mallet, four band-aids, and a few swear words later, the only things that got me through the setup were 1) a heat gun, and 2) the notion that the designer of this godforsaken hood was a demon sitting on a perch somewhere. I was just waiting to either give up or sever my artery as the glass inevitably exploded. There is absolutely nothing wrong with not attaching the strips to the glass at the factory. It is foolish to think that putting them in place would be easy. You WILL chip the corners of the glass, at this point just grab a heat gun because if you keep forcing it like all the tutorials on youtube or advice on the forum suggest I have no doubt the glass will shatter into shards (it is not like a windshield, it's like window glass.) Once you finally manage to apply the strips, the hood is perfect for a 60-gallon tank, but it will literally cost you blood, sweat, tears and maybe even your soul . unless you just use a heat gun to soften the plastic a bit before starting. Be careful not to press too hard or the plastic will warp, but once you get it flexible enough you'll need to start at a corner and push the plastic into the jar without moving it since it's only about five inches gets stuck. . HOW PAINFUL!

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Crumpled
