Review on 2001720 LYRA Rembrandt Polycolor Art πŸ–οΈ Pencils - Set of 72 Assorted Colors by Michelle Langley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Better than the current "best ".

I have several artist quality colored pencils. A few of these are very good. Including Caran d'Ache Luminance wax color, oil-based Faber-Castell Polychromos, wax-based Prismacolor Premier and oil-based Caran d'Ache Pablo. I've had the opportunity to work with the finest products made today. To be honest they are the best for me. They seem to me lighter, more comfortable to hold and handle, and thinner than all the others. They hold the point longer than my polychromos. The kernels are generous. Same as polychromos or luminance. The quality of the cedar shell is excellent, the cores are in the middle, they do not splinter. They have excellent light fastness. I got them after seeing a review of Owing's Art on Youtube. I let that guide me when making a purchase decision. My set was made in Germany and I bought it from Revain. I ordered 2 additional sets the day they arrived, although I will wait 2 months to receive them. That's how good these pencils are and what an amazing price. If you compare this price to Dick Bleek you will see what I mean. When I bought additional kits here, the DB price was $109. Lyra is an old and reliable German brand. The more color pens they try, the higher the price will be. Since I ordered my sets in January, there have already been 2 price increases. If you're interested I wouldn't wait. This is really my transition to pencil. I am selling my caran d'ache. I use Alvin's 3-hole manual sharpener to properly sharpen all of my CPs. Using an electric sharpener can damage and eat away at a good quality pencil. Everyone has a brand that works for them. Other brands fill in the gaps with color. It's my choice. I really enjoy working with them.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful
