According to the description it can be used in cars. Does not work when the engine is running. My car is a Nissan Xterra. UPDATE: The company was kind enough to send me a replacement. This replacement worked at grade C, but after I removed the jumper on the back to change it to grade F, it didn't work with the car's engine running.
